FarmRx provides free home-delivered boxes of locally-grown fruits and veggies for Medi-Cal recipients with a chronic health condition. In addition to receiving our fresh produce boxes, FarmRx participants have the option to enroll in our VeggieRx Nutrition Program.

Our Approach

Anthem Medi-Cal recipients living in Kern or Kings County with a chronic health condition, may be eligible to participate in our FarmRx program and receive a box of locally-sourced produce from small, California farmers each week for 12 weeks.

During this time, participants also have the option to enroll in our VeggieRx Nutrition Program. The program centers on providing nutrition knowledge participants can apply in daily life, offering ongoing support to motivate and encourage long-term behavior change through trauma-informed care, and creating a safe space to build community with fellow participants.

Some highlights of the FarmRx Program:

FarmRx boxes are delivered to your home at NO COST, filled with fresh, locally-grown fruits and veggies
Produce for the FarmRx boxes is sourced from Fresno BIPoC Produce, a local food hub serving Kern & Kings counties
Optional VeggieRx Nutrition Classes are conveniently offered online, in both English and Spanish
While in the VeggieRx Nutrition Program, participants are guided through conversations led by our team to expand nutritional knowledge
Participants can also access to an expansive library of healthy eating resources, including cook-along videos featuring culturally relevant and seasonal recipes

How do I know if I’m eligible to participate in the FarmRx Program?

To know if you’re eligible to currently participate in FarmRx Program, you must be an Anthem Medi-Cal recipient living in Kern or Kings County with a chronic health condition. Filling out the registration form, here, will allow you to assess if your location and health condition meets the requirements of the program.

How long is the FarmRx Program?

The FarmRx program is 12 weeks long, including receiving the FarmRx boxes and participating in the optional VeggieRx Nutrition Program. As a reminder, you’ll receive your box of fresh fruits and veggies 1 per week for the duration of the program delivered to your home at no cost.

Where does the produce come from for the FarmRx boxes?

The produce for the FarmRx boxes is sourced from Fresno BIPoC Produce. As our proud food hub partner in Kern and Kings counties, they are on a mission to bridge the gap between local agriculture and community health. Working primarily with Hmong farmers, they ensure that every veggie, fruit, and staple item in your box supports equitable farming practices while delivering top-tier nutritional quality straight to your table. So, when you unpack your FarmRx delivery, you’re not just receiving fresh food—you’re actively supporting a network of resilient local growers and keeping vibrant, diverse agricultural traditions alive in the heart of the Central Valley.

Can I fill out the FarmRx Program registration form on behalf of someone else?

Yes, you can fill out the FarmRx Program registration form on behalf of someone else. For example, if you are filling out this form on behalf of your child or someone you are providing care for, please list yourself as the guardian or caregiver.

If I am an Anthem Medi-Cal recipient but I don’t live in Kern or Kings County, what should I do?

Although we are currently only offering service to Kern and Kings County, this may expand in the future. Please complete this FarmRx Program registration form to be added to our wait list. We will reach out to you if funding becomes available for service in your area.

Am I required to register for the VeggieRx Nutrition Program as part of the FarmRx Program?

No, you do not need to register for the VeggieRx Nutrition Program to participate in the FarmRx Program. We do encourage participants to engage with our VeggieRx Nutrition Program to get the most out of the FarmRx Program.

Can I re-enroll into the FarmRx Program at a later date?

You might be able to re-enroll in the FarmRx Program at a later date. We will have to check with the health insurance provider to get authorization.
