Progress Report: Shifting into Autumn
The yearly shift into autumn is a valuable opportunity to reflect on all we’ve done since the new year. 2017 has been a busy and bustling year for Fresh Approach, as our programs have expanded to reach more families and communities than ever before.
Here’s a quick snapshot of what we’ve been up to:
• The Freshest Cargo Mobile Farmers’ Market truck surpassed it’s 2016 sales in September thanks to two new routes in East Oakland and East Palo Alto
• We’ve taught over 70 Healthy Food, Healthy You nutrition and cooking classes since January, in seven Bay Area counties
• Thanks to our wide-scale promotional efforts in Santa Clara County in partnership with the county department of public health, CalFresh spending at surveyed farmers’ markets in Santa Clara County is up 48%
• Here at Fresh Approach, we envision a bright future: where everyone in the Bay Area can access fresh, affordable, and local food; where essential nutrition education is wide-spread, enabling people to make healthy choices; and where California certified farmers remain vibrant sources of fresh food for local communities.
We look forward to making the rest of 2017 a glowing success!
